Overview
Embark on one of the most popular day hikes in the Kathmandu Valley. Starting in Thankot, this hike takes you through charming villages and serene forests to Chhap Bhanjyang at 2,275 meters. From there, continue to Chandragiri Hill at 2,729 meters for breathtaking views of the Langtang and Ganesh Himal ranges, along with majestic peaks like Everest, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Manaslu, and Gaurishankar.
This moderately challenging hike is rich in biodiversity, offering a chance to explore subtropical jungles, spot medicinal plants, and enjoy birdwatching. The adventure concludes with a descent to Machhegaun and a private vehicle transfer back to Kathmandu.

Itinerary
Day 1: Chandragiri Day Hiking
- 07:15 – Drive for 30 minutes to Thankot.
- 07:45 – Tea/coffee break and last-minute preparations for the hike.
- 08:15 – Start hiking to Chhap Bhanjyang (3-hour hike).
- 11:45 – Reach Chhap Bhanjyang (2,275m). Enjoy a one-hour lunch break.
- 12:45 – Continue hiking to Chandragiri Hill (2,729m).
- 13:45 – Arrive at Chandragiri Hill and soak in the stunning mountain views.
- 16:15 – Descend for 2.5 hours to Machhegaun. Enjoy a short tea break before concluding the hike.
